Addie's start

Adeline Nichole Gleason was born at 2:31 am on April 3, 2009. She was 8 lbs. oz. and 21 inches long. She had quite a bit of dark hair and the most gorgeous eyebrows! A few minutes after her birth, however, they rushed her away on oxygen for tests. She had aspirated blood and had collapsed lungs, she had pneumonia, and she had a bacteria in her blood that the doctors said was so advanced that she must have been sick for about a week before she was born. Needless to say, it was a rough start for our little baby.

Soon after the tests, they decided she needed to be life-flighted to the NICU at Utah Valley Hospital. I, however, had to stay at the AF hospital and wasn't able to see her again for a couple days. When I was able to see her to doctors had put her into a drug induced coma and said that 99% of babies they see come into the NICU were healthier than she was. That was extremely hard to hear and seeing her limp body attached to so many machines was even worse.

After many prayers, fasts, blessings and time, she healed however. She did come home on oxygen and stayed on it for about a month in a half. However, looking at her now, you would never have known that she had such a bad start. She is a healthy 21 lbs and is very active and energetic. We know the Lord loves us and is watching over us and we are grateful!
